Umemura Japanese Garden

2024.9.9

Just a 2-minute walk from the sento, you can visit the beautiful Japanese garden, which is free to enter.

Located in Yakumo Town, the garden offers a peaceful escape where you can enjoy the changing seasons.

Created around 1930 by Tajurou Uemura, who moved from Aichi Prefecture, the garden was designed as part of his residence and is now a designated cultural asset of the town.

The garden features a pond-based strolling landscape with flowing spring water, surrounded by hills and dry landscape elements. In spring, vibrant azaleas bloom, while autumn brings stunning foliage, and in winter, a serene snow-covered scene unfolds.

The Uemuntei rest house within the garden allows visitors to relax and enjoy the view while admiring traditional Japanese architecture. It’s a perfect spot to unwind and appreciate the beauty of nature and history in a tranquil setting.
